Specialization
Human dimensions of global change, climate change and tourism, community vulnerability and adaptation.
Research Interests and Areas of Expertise
My main research interests involve examining the human dimensions of global change within the tourism and transportation sectors but with a focus on community and stakeholder vulnerability. I use a variety of interdisciplinary approaches and am involved with several collaborations which bring together multiple perspectives in order to comprehensively examine social-environmental problems.
Ongoing Projects
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC, co-applicant): Climate change and tourism change in northern communities: a vulnerability and resilience assessment (2009-2011).
Northern Research Fund, Canadian Wildlife Federation, Northern Scientific Training Program (PI): Climate change vulnerability of the polar bear viewing industry in Churchill, Manitoba (2007-2010).
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC, PhD Scholarship): Climate change vulnerability of the US Northeast ski tourism sector: a multi-methods systems-based approach (2005-2009).
