Conclusion

Our siting research focused on determining possible locations for a new recreation facility in the City of Guelph. A number of objectives were outlined that helped execute our purpose. We first determined the social, accessibility and environmental factors that played a role in siting. A GIS model was created using MCE analysis that assigned weights to each criteria. By using GIS, we were able to store and manipulate the data we retrieved and create an output that determined two suitable sites. The last objective was to re-evaluate our model and compare the two sites. The factors originally considered were taken into consideration for both sites and it was found that the locations satisfied our factors. The model created was successful for our purpose and could be further improved by taking into consideration the limitations described. This model can be applied to future siting studies.
