Three TTC potential subway lines were selected based on LRT lines proposed by Bernardo, Kiralyfalvy and Smith in 2015. Before being able to design and apply a GIS model, factors that impact where the ideal location of a new line should be located were investigated (detailed below), and the optimal GIS model was selected. Following the application of the GIS model, the strengths and limitations of this research study will be considered.
Objective 1 Identify factors or variables important in deciding where a new subway line should be.
Objective 2 Develop a GIS-based model for siting a new subway line in Toronto.
Objective 3 Apply the GIS model to examine which proposed TTC subway line is the most beneficial.
Objective 4 Evaluate the strengths and limitations of the aforementioned GIS-based model.
