Barringer Crater

50 000 year old meteorite impact crater in the Arizona Desert, USA, also known as “Meteor Crater”. The meteorite itself was 100 metres in diameter.
Upon hitting the Earth's surface, a crater over a kilometre wide and approximatly 200 metres deep was produced. To date, it is the world's best known and best preserved impact crater. The movie below describes the impact in greater detail.
