Coastal Marsh

Salty or brackish (slightly salty) marsh bordering a seacoast. These are often found between barrier islands and the coast because of the protection from wave action. Coastal marshes can also be found in the more sheltered parts of estuaries. They often protect the coast from erosion, especially during storms, and are important wildlife habitats.
