Greenland Ice Cap

Expanse of ice that covers roughly 80% of Greenland at this time. In some places, the ice is up to 3,375 meters thick. Recent changes in ice thickness and melt zones have been observed through satellite photographs. The first image shows the rate of change in the the thickness of the ice cap, and the second sequence of images show the differences in the size of the melt zone over two years. The third image is from the National Geographic photo collection, showing the ice cap actively melting.
