Homecoming 2012 -
Let's Enjoy it Responsibly

September 20, 2012

This coming weekend is Homecoming and the University of Guelph, Campus Community Police, Guelph Police Services and the City of Guelph have adopted the theme: "Let's enjoy it responsibly."

Homecoming is a time when University of Guelph alumni return to the city to reunite with former classmates and cheer on the Gryphon football team. There are a host of reunion events as well.

As well, there will be official Homecoming events held at the Brass Taps, Grad Lounge and Gryph's Sports Lounge and at the Eccles Centre for residence students.

As part of the Homecoming 2012 "Let's enjoy it responsibly" initiative, the Guelph Police Service and the City of Guelph Bylaw Compliance Department will have an increased presence in neighbourhoods, as they partner to provide a safe community environment for all Guelph residents.

For information about hosting parties, fines for bylaw infractions, or general neighbourhood issues, you can contact Off-Campus Living at extension 56276 or email ocl@uoguelph.ca. City of Guelph Resources are also available.

The Guelph Police Service invites Twitter users to a "virtual ridealong"
on Saturday, September 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and
10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Follow @gpsmedia and use #2012Guelph_HC
to get updates about homecoming enforcement activities and
events.

It is our hope that the weekend's events will provide lots of opportunities for fun, but that all community members engage in activities that are safe, are respectful of one another and our neighbours as well as other neighbourhoods. We all have a lot of time and energy invested in our community.

Let's enjoy Homecoming responsibly.
