The Learning & Development team consists of a small number of dedicated, energetic individuals with a wide range of strengths and competencies. In addition to staff members, Learning & Development draws on a group of distinguished consultants, facilitators and training associates.

Linda Watt, Director, Learning & Development and Consulting Services

Linda Watt
Linda has developed both breadth and depth of experience over 20 years of practice in organizational, team and individual learning and development spanning across the private and public sectors.  Linda has her Masters in Human Systems Intervention.  She is a Team Management Systems Practitioner, has a certificate in Adult Education, a coaching certification and is a certified Facilitation Master.  She has published articles on the topic of effective leadership development.

Of particular interest to wine lovers, Linda is a certified Sommelier and delights in world wide wine touring and providing wine appreciation seminars.

Louise Merlihan, Learning & Development Facilitator

Louise MerlihanLouise has been designing and supporting local and national communities of learning for over ten years.  Before joining the University, Louise worked with Tamarack: An Institute for Community Engagement as the Director of its award-winning Learning Centre.  She holds a BA and MA from Wilfrid Laurier University and completed the Executive Program for Non-Profit Leaders at Stanford University in 2009. Louise is a certified facilitator of EQ in Action and the SDI.

Lily Zhou, Learning & Development Assistant

Lily ZhouLily came to Guelph as an international student in 1989 and has worked in many organizations in China and North America for more than twenty years.  For the last 10 years, she worked for the ESL Program in the University of Guelph’s Office of Open Learning.  She joined the Learning & Development team in February 2010.  Lily has a B.A. degree in English from China. 

Lily enjoys travelling, singing, cooking, and exploring various computer technologies.
