A very warm welcome to our School.
In 2009, the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Guelph celebrates 40 years of educational service to the Canadian hotel, food service and tourism industries. As Canada’s most long-standing and arguably most prestigious university hospitality programme we are immensely proud of both our contribution and our heritage. As we progress through our 5th decade of operation, we also look forward to our future impact on the management and development of what is now a truly global industry.
The ‘Guelph School’ has gone through many changes over the past 40 years, and no doubt more change is yet to come. However, at the root of all we do is an innate desire to ensure that all of our educational programs, our research and other professional activity continue to address the opportunities, wants and needs of the industries we serve. Indeed, through our Policy Advisory Board, professional associations and our alumni, our long-standing interconnection with hotel, food service and tourism organisations both in Canada and further afield, is of inestimable value to us as a School. As we continuously seek to develop and evolve our programs, the professional insight and expertise brought to the School through countless industry speakers, industry collaboration and our ‘Executive-in-Residence’ program, the opportunity for students and faculty to engage in experiential and problem-based learning will only increase.
