MAR 26: EAT. SLEEP. TRAVEL. FIGHT CANCER

Cancer affects everyone; 1 in 3 will have the disease while many will share in the struggle. To remember those we've lost, celebrate those who have survived, and lessen the number affected in the future, 15 students will represent HTM on March 31, 2012 as the EAT. SLEEP. TRAVEL. FIGHT CANCER. team. Thanks to Julie Ridlington and HTMSA, the School created its first team last year. They collected $1,335 with the help of kind donors and came 4th for fundraising overall! This year, their goal is $1,400.

To support EAT. SLEEP. TRAVEL. FIGHT CANCER. and the Canadian Cancer Society, visit their team page (below) or donate directly to the participants. Thank you for your generosity. As always, please feel free to email our Director of Charitable Events, Michelle Chan at mchan03@uoguelph.ca with any questions or visit us online at www.htmsa.ca and www.facebook.com/htmsa.

Guelph Mercury Story
Frontenac News

The HTMSA (Hospitality and Tourism Management Student Association) will be holding a special fundraiser in support of Drew Cumpson, a former HTMSA member, friend and fellow student. Extremely involved in campus life, he wholeheartedly participated in numerous charity events, including “Five Days for the Homeless”. It came as no surprise when Drew chose to postpone his summer co-op start date in order to volunteer with a University of Guelph program in Peru. However, it was a surprise when we learned that during this program, Drew fractured his C4 vertebra in a swimming accident.

Drew’s injuries are permanent and he is a quadriplegic. Though he is determined, this is a tough battle and an enormous financial burden. Consequently, apart from prayers and good thoughts, as Drew’s HTMSA family, we are showing our support by organizing a fundraiser with a silent auction.

This Friday, January 20th, our goal is to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of the wheelchair Drew needs. Drew Cumpson, a person with such a big heart deserves big help.

If you have any questions or would like to make a donation to the silent auction, please contact HTMSA's Director of Charitable Events at mchan03@uoguelph.ca
