Genus GYMNOCHETA Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830
GYMNOCHETA Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830: 371 (also subsequently spelled Gymnochaeta, unjustified emendation). Type species: Tachina viridis Fallén, 1810 (cited as viridis Meigen, in error), by monotypy [Palearctic].
CHLOROMETAPHYTO Townsend, 1919a: 180. Type species: Gymnochaeta vivida Williston, 1886, by original designation.
frontalis Brooks, 1945.– British Columbia, Alberta (S&A, 1965), ?New Mexico (CNC).
– Gymnocheta frontalis Brooks, 1945a: 88. Type data: holotype male (CNC). Type locality: Canada, British Columbia, Kamloops, Mount Lolo.
ruficornis Williston, 1886.– Iowa and Kansas to Massachusetts and New Jersey, also Arizona (S&A, 1965), Ontario, Québec, North Carolina (CNC), Virginia (WVU).
– Gymnochaeta ruficornis Williston, 1886: 302. Type data: holotype female (SEMK). Type locality: USA, Pennsylvania.
