SPHAERINA van der Wulp, 1890: 44 (in key; full description in a subsequent fascicle, see van der Wulp, 1890: 205). Type species: Sphaerina nitidula van der Wulp, 1890, by subsequent monotypy of van der Wulp, 1890: 205 [Neotropical].
