Prof to Be on CBC Radio

January 31, 2008 - In the News

Environmental biology Prof. Mike Dixon will be featured live on the CBC radio program Ontario Morning Monday at 8:15 a.m.

Dixon will be talking about the "Martian garden," the prototype he and other Guelph researchers developed of special environment-controlled growth chambers that will one day allow people to grow vegetables on Mars.

The European Space Agency contracted U of G to design and assemble the plant growth chamber because of Guelph's expertise in biological life-support systems. Dixon's research and the "Martian garden" were also featured in an article in the Globe and Mail this past weekend.

Ontario Morning, hosted by Wei Chen, is CBC Radio's wake-up show for listeners in Southern Ontario outside of Toronto, from Sarnia in the west to Cornwall in the east, to Parry Sound in the north, and to parts of the Upper Ottawa Valley. In Guelph, it can be heard via the internet.
