Flags at Half-Mast to Mark National Day of Remembrance

December 06, 2013 - Campus Bulletin

Flags are at half-mast today to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, this day marks the anniversary of the murders in 1989 of 14 young women at École Polytechnique de Montréal. It's also an opportunity for Canadians to reflect on the phenomenon of violence against women.

U of G is holding a day-long memorial in the University Centre atrium for the École Polytechnique de Montréal victims, as well as a vigil at 5:30 p.m. in Branion Plaza.
