Arkell Equine Research Station

The Arkell Equine Research Station is located just 10 minutes south of the University of Guelph. The station maintains a herd of standardbred and thoroughbred horses and a pony breeding herd. These are mainly used for OMAFRA-U of G approved projects.

This facility has 2 large horse barns with a total of

  • 3 stalls
  • 16 box stalls
  • 1 breeding shed
  • 2 isolation stalls

 The station is surrounded by 57 hectares of pasture with many paddocks and shelters for housing 40-50 horses and 20-30 ponies and foals.
