Ponsonby General Animal Facility

The Ponsonby General Animal Facility is a unique flexible multipurpose research animal housing facility. This facility is designed to house a variety of livestock species and ages including swine, sheep, goats, dairy calves and non lactating cows, beef calves, feed lot cattle and cows. The facility has five heated rooms with individual pens, and semi heated Intensive area with six group pens that can each be subdivided into as many as four individual pens. There is also a naturally ventilated Extensive area that has six large group pens and an animal handling area.

The design of the facility allows researchers to bring in a wide range of animals from other research flocks or herds, private farms and random sources for temporary housing on specific research projects. The Ponsonby Research Station is located about 10 minutes north of Guelph.
