ORWC Hosts 3rd Annual Open House in Guelph

Doug & Katherine hosted the third annual Open House at the ORWC Demonstration Facility in Guelph on October 24, 2014. This year the Open House was combined with a visit from the Simcoe Chapter of the OBOA, who brought 23 members. Representatives from the different technologies on display in the building were present to talk to the over 70 attendees about their products. Doug presented a short talk on how the 2012 building code changes have been implemented over the first construction season and Anna Crolla delivered a brief overview of the Constructed Wetland Performance research that has been conducted in Alfred. We had some new technology to show off, including a new Ecoflo Peat Biofilter and an Advantex unit provided by John Doner of the Septic Store. It was a chilly day but successful day! Many thanks to the technology representatives for their support and attendance.

ORWC Speaks at the Unit Precast Open House in Breslau, Ontario

Doug Joy and Katherine Rentsch attended the Unit Precast Open House on Thursday May 8, 2014 at their precasting facility in Breslau, just outside of Kitchener-Waterloo. About 60 installers, engineers & regulators were there to see the latest things that Unit Precast has to offer and to enjoy a great lunch! Doug presented a talk on implications of 2014 building code changes and how they will affect the on-site industry as the construction season begins. Click here for a copy of his talk.

ORWC Delivers an Inspection & Evaluation Course for the Simcoe OBOA in Midland, Ontario

Doug Joy and Katherine Rentsch travelled to Midland, Ontario on April 24, 2014to deliver a special offering of the "Inspection & Evaluation of On-site Sewage Systems" workshop. The day was organized by the Simcoe Chapter of the Ontario Building Officials Association and included attendees from the local building departments as well as a few installers and service providers. The day included a site visit to a nearby property where Doug and Katherine demonstrated some of the techniques used for evaluating the health of an existing system in the field. It was an enjoyable day out of the office!

Premier Tech Aqua Donates New Ecoflo Peat Biofilter Unit to Guelph Demonstration Centre

We are very pleased to announce that Premier Tech Aqua has generously donated a new Ecoflo Peat Biofilter to replace the old unit which has been on display in the Guelph Demonstration facility since 2000. The new biofilter is a roto-mold unit model number STB-570P. Gerry & Tim Knoop of Denby Environmental and Bill Ormsby of PTA delivered and assisted in the installation of the new unit. We are grateful to Premier Tech Aqua for their continued support of the Ontario Rural Wastewater Centre and look forward to showing the new unit in our upcoming courses.

ORWC Hosts 2nd Annual Open House in Guelph

Doug & Katherine hosted the second annual Open House at the ORWC Demonstration Facility in Guelph on October 3, 2013. Representatives from the different technologies on display in the building were present to talk to the over 70 attendees about their products. Doug presented a short talk on the upcoming 2012 building code changes that will take effect on January 1, 2014 and Chris Kinsley delivered a brief overview of the ORWC's new technology testing facility in Alfred. The day was a big success and the ORWC thanks the technology representatives for their support.

ORWC Hosts Classroom on Wheels Tour for Municipalities Considering Decentralized On-Site Wastewater Treatment Alternatives in Ottawa

Terry Davidson and his staff hosted an Open House & Workshop at the ORWC Demonstration Facility in Ottawa on September 4, 2013. The day began at the demonstration centre with some presentations on new technologies and case studies illustrating the use of decentralized systems. Attendees mingled with technology display representatives to learn more about their products. After the presentations, a bus tour took participants to two developments in the area which have utilized on-site sewage treatment systems to their advantage. The day was a big success and the ORWC thanks the technology representatives for their support. To read more about the event click here.

ORWC Participates in CVC Well and Septic Social in Orangeville, Ontario

Doug and Katherine attended the Well and Septic Social hosted by Credit Valley Conservation on Saturday June 15, 2013. About 40 property owners in the Credit Valley Watershed were there to learn about best management programs for wells and septic systems. Doug & Katherine presented a talk on how to operate and maintain a privately owned onsite sewage system and the different types of systems available for use in today's market.
