Doug Joy is the General Manager of the ORWC, which he co-founded in 1998. Over the past several years Doug has participated in over 50 workshops dealing with onsite issues and has headed up over a dozen research studies focusing on onsite wastewater treatment technologies, approaches and other subjects related to the field.

Doug has been a full time faculty member at the School of Engineering at the University of Guelph for the past 18 years. As a professor of water resources engineering, his main areas of research are as follows:

• Impact of onsite systems on ground and surface waters
• On-site System Design and Regulation
• Bacterial Transport in Hydrologic Systems and River Processes

Doug is the past president of the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association, a member of the Building materials Evaluation Committee and Chair of the Technical Review Committee on changes to Part 8 of the Ontario Building Code.
