Joint PhD Student Research Excellence
The Joint PhD Program in Literary Studies/Theatre Studies in English, offered by the University of Guelph and Wilfrid Laurier University, presents an opportunity for doctoral study that is unique in Canada. Supported by excellent faculty and the Trellis Combined Library Collections, the program offers specializations in five fields of study: Canadian, Early Modern, Postcolonial, Gender & Genre, and Nineteenth-Century Studies. The innovative joint program will serve students well in a job market that now rarely looks for narrow specialization or coverage of a single field, but rewards interdisciplinarity, breadth, flexibility, and the capacity for wide-ranging and sophisticated cultural analysis.
