Graduate Studies

Welcome (Masters and Doctoral Students)

The Graduate Program in Political Science offers  a dynamic and engaging environment for Masters and Doctoral study.

The department has a wide range of research interests including; comparative politics, public policy, governance, international development, international relations, environmental policy, health policy, peace and conflict studies, constitutionalism, federalism, human rights, gender and identity and law.

In addition to these thematic interests, the department offers a regional specialization on Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union,  Latin America, the United States and Canada.

The  department takes pride in its professor to student ratio, meaning that students benefit from smaller classes. Every year, the department accepts approximatly 12 to 15 students in the MA program, and 3-4 students into the PhD program, providing guaranteed funding for both cohorts.

The department has an excellent record for placing its students in competitive Doctoral programs , including the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia and the Norman Paterson School of Internations Affairs, as well as federal Parliamentrary and Ontario Legistaltive Internship programs in the volunteer sector.
