Welcome to the City of Guelph and the University of Guelph   City of GuelphCity of Guelph

Political Science at the U of G: Guelph’s Political Science program is a research intensive and teaching oriented department offering students a dynamic and engaging environment in which to pursue graduate studies. Graduate students attending Guelph can take advantage of a faculty which has a wide range of research interests including constitutionalism and law, human rights and development, trade policy, international relations, ideologies and belief systems, pace and conflict studies, gender and identity and public policy and administration. In addition to their specializations faculty research covers a number or regions, such as Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union, and the United States. The Political Science department has a low professor to student ratio, and therefore students benefit from the variety of specializations represented in the faculty. Guelph students work with each other with roughly 12* students admitted at the Masters level and 4* at the Doctoral level, both with funding assurance. Recent Guelph graduates have gone on to lead successful careers with many working in varying levels of government, as well as for Non-Profit Organizations.

Admission Requirements: The department requires a MA degree in Political Science with at least an A- average for consideration for admission to the program.
