How to Apply (Masters)
The department requires a four year Honours BA degree in Political Science with a minimum B+ (77-79%) Grade Point Average on their BA.
A methodology course is necessary for admission to the graduate program. Students not satisfying this requirement may be admitted with the provision that it be satisfied by completing the requisite extra course. Students are also expected to have an adequate working knowledge of a language in addition to English if that is needed for their particular course of study. Students with a MA in a field of Social Science other than Political Science are also encouraged to apply. If accepted, they will be expected to successfully complete additional qualifying courses during their first two semesters in the program.
Note: September is the only entry point for the program.
The application session for 2017 is now closed. The next deadline to apply and upload all required documents is January 18, 2018. We strongly recommend that applicants apply at least a month before that deadline to ensure that they have sufficient time to gain access to upload their required documents.
The documents required include: all transcripts, two academic reference letters and assessment forms, a 1-3 page statement of research interest, the online application, and an English equivalency exam such as a TOEFL is required if the applicant's first language is other than English
An electronic Referee Assessment Form will be sent directly to the referees listed in your online application. These documents will also be submitted electronically on your behalf.
You are responsible for applying online and submitting all transcripts and your 1-3 page statement of research interest (thesis intent). This longer statement is in addition to the short statement you are able to submit in your online application. We suggest that applicants review our faculty to see if there is a potential advisor for their topic and they can incorporate that information into their statement, please refer to this link (second page):
