Yiu Lun Edmund Leung
Yiu Lun Edmund Leung has, in his words, a true passion for volunteering. In his high school, he was involved in the Students Taking Action Now: Darfur group and organized presentations and displays to encourage students to write letters and raise funds. As president of the S.T.O.P. club he coordinated school-wide events about human trafficking, and as a member of the Eco-Team Executive, he organized a Fair Train Bazaar to showcase eco-friendly products. In the community, he has chaired the Youth Action Committee, coached both boys' and girls' volleyball teams and helped to raise funds for Epilepsy Toronto. As his teacher writes, "Yiu demonstrates a giving and generous nature and his personal and academic excellence is evident."

Tahirih Rowshan-Lips
Tahirih Rowshan-Lips says that her passion to make a difference both motivates and inspires her. She has been involved in volunteering for Amnesty International and Lanark County Interval House, and obtained a grant from the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario to make a movie about the effects of gender-based oppression and violence on mental health. In her school, she has been involved in Re:Action for Inclusion, a province-wide program to promote more inclusive schools and communities. Tahirih worked on a bike rack project to build bike racks for the community to encourage cycling, and was a key contributor to the work of the Almonte Animal Rights Group. While accomplishing all this, Tahirih also earned the Student Council Trophy for achieving the highest average of all students in year three.
