Harvey Marmurek (1)

Position:

Professor

Area:

Neuroscience & Applied Cognitive Science

Research Interests:

My long-standing research interests fall in the general area of human cognition, particularly the mental functions of attention and memory.  The topics that I have studied vary from the fundamental mechanisms contributing to the development of skilled reading, memory and how people form impressions of other people. More recently, I have focused on personality differences among gamblers, the limits on their attention and memory for gambling events, the role of subjective probability in betting patterns, and the ways in which the physical gambling environment fosters risky decision-making.
