Canadian Sociological Association (CSA) Conference – Toronto, May 29-June 01, 2017

Nicole Jeffrey (PhD Candidate) and Sara Crann (PhD) presented research at the CSA conference in Toronto. On behalf of the Research Facility for Women’s Health and Wellbeing, they presented a talk titled, “University women’s safety concerns: Examining rape culture and institutional policies”.


Nicole Jeffrey at CPA 2017Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) Conference – Toronto, June 08-10, 2017

Nicole Jeffrey (PhD Candidate), Sandy Erb (PhD Student), and Sara Crann (PhD) presented research at the CPA conference in Toronto. In a symposium titled “From the personal to the political: Exploring social dimensions of women’s wellbeing”, Nicole and Sara presented research on women’s sexual assault safety concerns on campus (“A participatory photography study of women's sexual assault safety concerns on campus”) and Sandy presented her Master’s thesis research on intimate partner violence survivors’ self-compassion, shame, and self-blame (“Investigation of Self-Compassion, Shame, and Self-Blame in Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence”). Nicole also presented a poster on the second study of her dissertation research about heterosexual men’s use of sexual pressure in intimate relationships.


Association for Women in Psychology (AWP) Conference – Milwaukee, March 3-5, 2017

Graduate students Sara Crann and Nicole Jeffrey presented research at the AWP conference in Milwaukee.  On behalf of the Research Facility for Women’s Health and Wellbeing, they presented a talk titled, "’Strangers are unsafe’: A participatory photography study of women's sexual assault safety concerns on campus.”  They also presented their own research at AWP.  Sara’s talk was titled “Small town girls and country girls: Subjectivities of girlhood among rural girls and young women” and is based on a chapter of her dissertation research.  Nicole presented a poster on the first study of her dissertation research about heterosexual men’s perspectives on sex, intimate relationships, and sexual violence.


International Women's Day Conference - March 8
