Agincourt Milk Producers' Association Scholarship

Qualification(s): Student preferably from a farm family in York County or the Region of Durham. The student must be entering the semester 7 of the B.A.SC. program with a good academic record and be majoring in Applied Human Nutrition. Presented in the Fall semester.

Amount: One award of $600

Alzheimer Society of Guelph-Wellington Scholarship for Study in Dementia

The Alzheimer Society of Guelph-Wellington, in recognition of the dedication of family and friends of people living with dementia, has established this scholarship. Apply by letter to the CSAHS Undergraduate Awards Committee by April 1, outlining how the honours thesis research relates to the promotion of a better understanding of dementia and/or dementia care. A one-page letter of recommendation from the thesis supervisor should also be included. [I0468]

Qualification(s): Undergraduate student with a minimum 75% cumulative average writing an honours thesis on a topic related to dementia or dementia care. Preference will be given to a student registered in a discipline in CSAHS.

Ann E. Barber Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is offered in memory of Ann E. Barber, former superintendent of Macdonald Hall and Dean of Women, by the Mac-FACS Alumni Association. Apply to Student Financial Services by April 1. [I0023]

Qualification(s): Student entering semesters 3, 4 or 5 in the B.A.SC. program or the Marketing Management or Housing and Real Estate Management major of the B.COMM. program with a minimum 80% average in the semester just completed. The student must have made a worthwhile contribution to student activities in residence or on-campus.

A.M. Bell Prize

Jean C. Bradley Memorial Prize

This prize was established by the 1929 class of Macdonald Institute in memory of Jean C. Bradley, instructor of foods and cookery at Macdonald Institute, and is administered by the Mac-FACS Alumni Association. Application not required. [C0032]

Dorothy Britton Memorial Scholarships

Jean Carter Memorial Gerontology Scholarship

Established by the family and friends of Jean Carter, a Mac' 38 graduate who was actively involved in the life of the College and the University. Apply by letter to the CSAHS Undergraduate Awards Committee, Dean's Office by April 1st, including a statement that outlines the student's experience working with the elderly in a volunteer capacity as well as extracurricular involvement the student may have and two letters of reference, one of which should be from someone who can speak to the student's volunteer experiences with the elderly, while the other should comment on the extracurricular activities of the student. Qualification(s): Undergraduate student in the CSAHS who has completed at least 10.0 credits with a minimum 70% cumulative average and has made a significant contribution to the care of the elderly. Preference will be given to students in the B.A.SC. program majoring in Gerontology.

Elizabeth Landels Casselman Scholarship

CSAHS Student Volunteer Scholarship

Inspired by Theresa Firestone, FACS '78, and funded by the Harshman Fellowships Society and Pfizer Canada Inc.. Students may apply on their own or be recommended by other students, faculty members or administrators from non-profit organisations. Applications are available from the CSAHS Dean's Office. Apply to the CSAHS Dean's Office with a completed application form, a summary letter outlining the student's volunteer experience and what has been gained or learned from this experience that has enhanced his/her personal growth and/or career goals, and 2 letters of recommendation by April 1. Qualification(s): This scholarship will be awarded to the Student Volunteer of the year to help defray the costs associated with volunteerism.

Adelaide Hoodless Proficiency Scholarships

In memory of Adelaide Hoodless, the estate of her daughter, Muriel L. Bostwick (MAC '31D), has established a number of proficiency scholarships to students in the B.A.SC. program. Marie-Pier Lamoureux Memorial Scholarship

Established by family and friends in memory of Marie-Pier Lamoureux-Jones, a 1988 graduate of the Applied Human Nutrition major in the B.A.SC. program. A student may only receive this scholarship once. Application not required. [I0359]

Qualification(s): Full-time undergraduate student entering semester 5, 6 or 7, who is enrolled in the Applied Human Nutrition major in the B.A.SC. program. The scholarship will be awarded to the student with the highest cumulative academic standing.

Mac '69 Scholarship

Virginia McEwen Memorial Scholarships

An endowment has been established by the family and friends of Virginia McEwen, an alumna of Macdonald Institute, Class of '57 (B.H.SC.), recipient of a University of Guelph Master's degree in 1971 and an enthusiastic participant in a wide range of activities of the University of Guelph Alumni Association for many years. Qualification(s): Outstanding students in the B.A.SC. co-op program. The first scholarship is awarded on admission to a student's first co-op work semester on the basis of academic performance in all courses completed prior to the first co-op work semester. The second scholarship is awarded to a student entering the second co-op work semester, based on an outstanding rating both on the student's Work Report and the Supervisor's Report on the student's performance, as well as on the basis of academic performance in all courses completed prior to the second co-op work semester.

Ontario Women's Institute Scholarships

Offered by the Federated Women's Institute of Ontario. Apply to Student Financial Services, by April 1. [I0160]

Qualification(s): Students from Ontario with a minimum cumulative average of 70% and the end of semester 2 of the B.A.SC. program or the Marketing Management, Housing and Real Estate Management or Hotel and Food Administration majors of the B.COMM. program who have been involved in extracurricular activities. If other qualifications are equal, preference will be given to students who have participated in the Ontario 4-H program and to students whose mothers are Women's Institute members. A student who has previously been awarded a W.I. scholarship is ineligible for an Ontario Women's Institute Scholarship.

Gertrude R. Peterson Memorial Scholarship

Qualification(s): Qualifications: Student in the Applied Human Nutrition major who obtains the highest mark in the course NUTR*3040, Nutritional Aspects of Disease. In the case of a tie, the award will be given to the student with the highest cumulative average.

Gerhard Scherf Memorial Scholarship

Qualification(s): Student who has successfully completed 15.00 credits (normally in the seventh semester) in the B.A.SC. program or the Hotel and Food Administration, Housing and Real Estate Management of Marketing Management majors of the B.COMM. program with a cumulative average of 70% or higher and who has made an outstanding contribution to the Departments of Consumer Studies, Family Relations and Applied Human Nutrition, and the School of Hotel and Food Administration. To be eligible, a student must have served for at least one year as a member of Student government in C.S.A.H.S. and participated in other College activities.

Morton and Pauline Schmidt Memorial Scholarship

Established by the family and friends of Morton G. and Pauline E. Schmidt of Kitchener, Ontario to recognize their appreciation of their daughters' education at the University of Guelph. Application not required. [I0429]

Qualification(s): Student in semester 5 or above of the Applied Human Nutrition major of the B.A.SC. program with at least a 70% cumulative average and who does not hold another major scholarship concurrently. If two students are equally qualified, the student showing the greatest improvement in semester average will receive the award.

Sister Mary Frederick Sheehan Award

Established by the Class of FACS `85, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Apply to Student Financial Services by October 7 with a completed Need Assessment Form and include a cover letter outlining the extent of community volunteerism or involvement in an on-campus student club, particularly as it relates to your area of study. Qualification(s): Student enrolled in either the B.A.SC. program or the Marketing Management or Housing and Real Estate Management major of the B.COMM. program who has completed at least 10.0 course credits with a minimum 70% cumulative average and has a record of community and/or on-campus student club involvement. Walter and Marian MacDougald Scholarship

Established by the family of Walter and Marian MacDougald on the 50th wedding anniversary of their parents, in recognition of their gift of life-long learning to their five children, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Qualification(s): Students entering semester 5 or 6 in the following programs/majors/minors: B.A.SC., B.SC.(Agr.), B.SC.(Env.), B.SC. Food Science, Animal Biology, Nutrition, or Forest Science, and Phase 3 of the D.V.M. are eligible. Students will have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to excellence and a minimum cumulative average of 70%. Recipients will be enrolled in a program involved in food supply or utilization, farmland conservation or woodlot management. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards).

Robert, Louis and Helen Shaw Memorial Degree Scholarships

Qualification(s): Students registered in the B.A.SC., B.COMM. in Agricultural Business, B.SC.(Agr.) or D.V.M. programs studying agriculture, horticulture, equine studies, food and nutrition or veterinary sciences with demonstrated financial need, a 70% cumulative average and involvement in local agricultural activities. Preference will be given to first year students from Peterborough County. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards).

Helen G. West Memorial Scholarship

Established by the family of Helen G. West, a Mac '30 graduate who was a member of the first University of Guelph Senate and a charter member of the University of Guelph Alumni Association, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Qualification(s): Qualifications: Students in semester 6 or higher of the B.A.SC. program with a minimum cumulative average of 77%, who have participated in extra curricular activities at a leadership level and have demonstrated financial need. Students must be registered full-time in the semester in which they receive the award. Additionally, students must meet the government-mandated terms for receipt of an OSOTF award (see General Statements on Awards).

Yeandle Family In-course Bursaries

Provided by the Estate of Audrey Yeandle, a Mac'25 graduate and life-long supporter of the University, with the assistance of the Ontario government's OSOTF program. Apply to Student Financial Services by October 7 with a completed Need Assessment Form. ACCESS AWARD [I3546]

Qualification(s): Full-time undergraduate and/or graduate students registered in each of the eight academic units within the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences. Jessie Lambden Coles Bursaries

Established by Gerald B. Coles in memory of his wife Jessie Lambden Coles, a former member of the Macdonald Institute faculty, to support students in the Family Relations and Applied Human Nutrition and Consumer Studies departments. Apply by October 7 to Student Financial Services. [I3005]

Mac-FACS Mature Student Bursary

Offered by the Mac-FACS Alumni Association. Apply to Student Financial Services, by September 15 for the Fall semester; by January 15 for the Winter semester; and by May 15 for the Spring semester with a completed Need Assessment Form. [I3011]

Qualification(s): Student who demonstrates financial need and who qualifies for mature student status. The student must be admitted to the B.A.SC. program or the Marketing Management or Housing and Real Estate Management major of the B.COMM. program, or if already holding a degree, admitted to take undergraduate courses in the above programs. Students must be registered in a minimum of 2 courses and may receive the bursary not more than three times.

Mildred Taylor Misener Bursaries

Nelson Women's Institute Bursary

Archie and Isabelle (Cook) Rintoul Bursary
