Students with a Permanent Disability
At the University of Guelph we believe that the educational experience of university should be open to every student who is academically qualified. The university works towards this goal by offering increased services for students with disabilities, by removing physical and educational barriers and by encouraging a healthy, open communication among faculty, staff and students.
OSAP
Students with a permanent disability are eligible for OSAP when taking a minimum 40% course load, usually 1.0 credits. You will be allowed full living costs for assessment purposes but funding is prorated based on course load for tuition, fees and books.
If you indicate that you have a permanent disability on your osap application, you must provide documentation to Student Financial Services to demonstrate that you have a permanent disability. Acceptable documentation includes a medical certificate, a learning-disability assessment, a document proving that you are in receipt of federal and/or provincial disability assistance, or a letter from the Centre for Students with Disabilities confirming you have a permanent disability.
You may also wish to apply for a Bursary or Scholarship for Students with Disabilities. or arrange an appointment with a financial aid counsellor.

If you have a 40% course load and are receiving a bursary or need-based scholarship, you must submit documentation of a disability to the Centre for Students with Disabilities and have your advisor/counsellor E-mail the Student Awards Office to confirm your status.
