This award was established in memory of Michael Tompkins, Governor General's Medalist in 1990. Completed nomination forms and nominated essays should be submitted to the English Department by April 1 by a faculty member. The essays must be proofread and formatted to be free of the student’s name, instructor’s names, course name and any other identifying marker. Nomination forms available through the English Department. Application is not required.
Student registered in Honours English specialization with a minimum of 10.0 credits and the best essay of at least 2500 words in a 3000- or 4000- level English course.
