The student’s home unit will nominate candidates. Departments and Schools with students in the International Development Studies specialization will submit names of eligible candidates along with supporting documentation to the Graduate Program Coordinator and the Graduate Program Committee by September 30. Documentation should include a letter from the candidate’s advisor or the Graduate Program Coordinator regarding the student's successful completion of degree requirements. The letter should emphasize the overall scholastic achievements of the student and detail the practical and social significance of the Masters or PhD research. Supporting documentation can include a hyperlink to the Atrium permalink for the project or any publications resulting from the research. Candidates will be selected based on both their overall scholastic achievements and the practical and social significance of the MA, MSc, MBA or PhD research, which apply social science theory and/or method to the study of development issues in the Global South or Global North.

Full-time students who have completed the requirements for their graduate degree from the International Development Studies specialization, including successful defense of their thesis, and whose research applies social science theory and/or method to the understanding of development issues in the Global South or Global North. Preference will be given to students who conducted research on the Global South.
