The Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) program is meant to nurture your interest and fully develop your potential for a research career in the natural sciences and engineering. These awards are also meant to encourage you to undertake graduate studies in these fields. If you would like to gain research work experience that complements your studies in an academic setting, this program can provide you with financial support through your host university.
Students who are offered a university USRA will work for 16 weeks of full-time employment and will be paid a minimum salary of $9,640 based on $16.55/hour, which includes 4% vacation pay. The supervisor is directly responsible for any salary and benefit costs over NSERC's contribution. The total amount of the award will be confirmed at the time of hiring.
All Canadian undergraduate students who have completed at least two terms of their bachelor's degree in natural science or engineering and meet the eligibility criteria can participate in the NSERC USRA program.
