Industrial Research opportunity - Non-Contact Thermometer for Veterinary Applications

The Catalyst Centre recently received an enquiry from a company that is developing a non-contact thermometer with barcode scanning, RFID and wireless capabilities enabling subject identification and automatic population of data in Electronic Medical Records. The company is currently developing a HIPAA compliant healthcare cloud application for storage and monitoring of clinical data that they believe could be expanded for vet data

The technology offers significant advantages over contact thermometers by reducing medical waste (ie. probe covers) and decreasing risks of transmitting infections.

The company is interested in partnering with researchers at the University of Guelph to determine the feasibility of using the technology in both home and veterinary applications.  Areas that the company would like to explore include (1) identification of applications where this technology would be most beneficial, (2) optimization of procedures for non-contact measurements in different animal species, and (3) methods to integrate with medical records and cloud platforms.

If you would like to connect with the company, please contact Gregor Lawson (lawsong@uoguelph.ca, Ext. 53351).
