University of Guelph research is recognized as producing solutions to regional, national and global challenges; a source of training and developing highly qualified personnel; leading to new technological developments, commercial activity and societal advances; and providing access to new processes, goods and services based on the spectrum of U of G traditional and emerging research strengths. The BDO enhances Ontario and Canadian society by assisting in the development of and facilitating, where appropriate, the commercialization of inventions and discoveries produced by University of Guelph research. 

Mission Statement

The mission of the BDO is to enable U of G faculty, staff and students to maximize the potential of their research to the benefit of the creator, the partner(s) and the U of G, through licensing agreements and other instruments, and facilitating, where appropriate, the transfer of technologies (discoveries) to commercial interests with the aim of generating a return on investment to the creator, the partner(s) and the University and for the benefit of the people of Ontario, Canada and beyond.

C4

The University of Guelph is a founding member of C4. C4 fosters innovation in Southwest Ontario by promoting technology transfer and commercialization. Comprised of ten universities and research institutions, C4 members coordinate their resources, cooperate with governmental and industrial bodies, collaborate in multi-disciplinary research to solve real world problems, and commercialize the results of their research.
