CIHR - Knowledge Synthesis Grant : Fall 2012 Competition
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support teams of researchers and knowledge users to produce knowledge syntheses and scoping reviews that will contribute to the use of synthesized evidence in decision-making and practice.
CIHR: New Investigator Salary Award : 2012-2013
The objective of the New Investigator Salary Award program is to provide outstanding new investigators with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their independence in initiating and conducting health research through provision of a contribution to their salary.
A new investigator is defined as a researcher who has held a full time research appointment (e.g., faculty appointment providing eligibility to apply for grants and/or supervise trainees), for a period of 0 to 60 months as of the competition deadline.

CIHR - Team Grant: Canada-Japan CEEHRC Teams in Epigenetics of Stem Cells
This Funding Opportunity is a component of the Canadian Epigenetics, Environment and Health Research Consortium (CEEHRC), one of CIHR's Roadmap Signature Initiatives. This multi-agency initiative is led by CIHR, with a number of dedicated funding opportunities planned over the next several years.
Announcement to the Guelph Health Research community regarding upcoming changes re: CIHR
- New Common CV - CIHR will only accept applications with the new common CV as of September, 2012. Approximately 90% of the information in the old common CV accounts have been migrated over to the new common CV server. While there are still a number of glitches and irritations that the communication experts at CIHR are trying to fix, every potential applicant must now move access their CV modules to do an update.
Update: Proposed Reforms of CIHR Open Programs and Peer Review
CIHR would like to thank Canada’s health research community for taking the time to review and provide feedback on the proposed changes to CIHR’s Open Suite of Programs and peer review system. Through letters, emails, feedback forms, an on-line discussion forum, and face-to-face discussions, CIHR has received a wide range of feedback reflecting the varied perspectives of the Canadian health research community. Canadian Institute of Health Research – Operating Grant: Fall 2012 Priority Announcement
Priority Announcements offer additional sources of funding for highly rated applications that are relevant to specific research priority areas or CIHR Institute mandates. Applications are submitted through the Fall 2012 Open Operating Grant: 2012-2013 funding opportunity.
The specific objective of the Operating Grant Priority Announcement (Specific Research Areas) is to offer additional sources of funding for highly rated applications that are relevant to specific CIHR research priority areas and mandates.
Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Operating Grant Fall 2012 Competition
The CIHR Open Operating Grant Program (OOGP) provides operating funds to support research proposals in all areas of health research including randomized controlled trials. A randomized controlled trial (RCT) is an experiment in which investigators randomly assign eligible human research participants or other units of study (e.g., classrooms, clinics, playgrounds) into groups to receive or not receive one or more interventions that are being compared. The results are analyzed by comparing outcomes in the groups.
Canadian Institutes of Health Research Team Grant : Terry Fox New Frontiers Program in Cancer (2012-2013)
The objective of the Terry Fox New Frontiers Program Project (Terry Fox New Frontiers) Grant funding opportunity is to support Canadian research programs in cancer that explore new frontiers in cure-oriented research (i.e., breakthrough and transformative biomedical/translational research providing new knowledge which may form the basis for innovative cancer diagnosis and/or treatment).
REVISED LAUNCH DATES/TRAINING OFFERED - Renewed Canadian Common CV (CCV) and June Funding Opportunity Launch
The implementation date of the Renewed CCV has been revised to Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 6:00 pm Eastern Time and so the June CIHR Funding Opportunity Launch will be on Tuesday, June 26.
CCV subscriber agencies have been advised of the delay to the Renewed CCV implementation date. Once the Renewed CCV is available, CCV users will receive an email notification from CCV with information on options available to assist them in using the new CCV for all agencies.
