2012 Large-Scale Applied Research Project on Genomics and Personalized Health

Genome Canada/Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI), in partnership with CIHR, launched a Request for Applications (RFA) for large-scale research projects to study the application of genomics in the area of personalized health.  This competition is to support projects that can demonstrate how genomics-based research can be used in the decision-making process in regards to human health maintenance and disease prevention, through early detection, as well as treatment of disease and disease prognosis.  Proposed projects should demonstrate how they can lead to strong socioeconomic benefits for Canadians.

How to apply:  Researchers interested in participating in this competition must register by filinga brief Registration Form that provides information on who is applying, what they are planning to do, research areas, expected deliverables and approximate budgets.  Applicants must also submit the Suggested Reviewer Appendix. 

Both the Registration Form and the Suggested Reviewer Appendix are due to the Office of Research Services (contact Sylvie Roussel, Grants & Contracts Officer, x54059) by February 20, 2012 and to OGI by February 27, 2012.

Duration:Up to 4years

Value: Genome Canada, CIHR and Cancer Stem Cell consortium will pay a maximum of $5million for an individual project, but applicants are required to obtain co-funding from other sources which must be at least 50% of the requested funding from the agencies mentioned above.
