Mission

“To facilitate through research and development the transition to a more sustainable economy by replacing petroleum-based resources, which are limited in availability and are a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, threatening our climate and our health, with renewable plant- based resources.”

Objectives

  • Support research with a clear focus on outcomes-based bio-product value-chains that encourage innovation in new product and new technology development to meet the needs and priorities of Ontario as a whole, and the province’s agri-food and industrial sectors in particular.
  • Support research with a strong emphasis on building cross-disciplinary teams and engaging researchers from other departments and other institutions to combine complementary expertise and research capacities to more comprehensively address specific outcomes in the bio-products sector.
  • Give Ontario agricultural-based companies a competitive advantage in global markets
  • Support more environmentally sustainable production systems for improved quality of life in Ontario.
