UPDATED (06/04/12) Pivot - Onsite Training Sessions - POSTPONED

UPDATE (06/04/12): Due to some very unfortunate circumstances, the facilitator is not able to visit campus as planned on Thursday June 7th to conduct the Pivot on-site training. We will be working with the facilitator to reschedule the training ASAP.  Any updates will be posted to the Office of Research website.

Pivot enables researchers to discover the right funding opportunities and effectively collaborate with colleagues. Designed for research development professionals, faculty, staff researchers, and graduate students, Pivot combines the most comprehensive, editorially maintained databases of funding opportunities and scholar profiles available. Pivot links scholars with funding and funding with scholars using powerful and intuitive tools.

Several training workshops will be held on Thursday June 7th, 2012 in the School of Engineering Lab 2313 to enable hands-on learning during the demonstration of Pivot. The workshops will be 75 minutes with 10-15 minutes remaining for Q & A with the workshop facilitator (who will be a representative of Refworks-COS). There will be two types of workshops offered: Pivot for Researchers and Pivot for Administrators.

It is strongly encouraged that all participants (Researchers and Research Administrators) claim/create their accounts prior to the training workshops – see below for further information on how to do this. The more attendees that actually do so, the less time the facilitator will need to demonstrate how to complete this process.

For more details about the contents of the workshops, please see the attached PDF.

The Pivot for Researchers workshop will be offered in three (3) time slots throughout the day:

  1. 8:30-10:00 am
  2. 1:00-2:30 pm
  3. 3:00-4:30 pm

Researchers interested in attending any one of the training workshops must RSVP to Patti Minakis at pminakis@uoguelph.ca to reserve a space in the lab.

The Pivot for Research Administrators workshop will be offered at 10:30 am-12:00 pm

Anyone with a Pivot Administrator account may attend both Pivot for Researchers and Pivot for Research Administrators to understand the Researchers experience as well as the specialized administrative functions.

If an RSVP hasn’t already been sent through Gryph Calendar, Administrators interested in attending the training workshop must RSVP to Patti  Minakis at pminakis@uoguelph.ca to reserve a space in the lab.
