Introduction

The Annual Report on Research Funds Awarded, 2008-09, summarizes all research projects with start dates falling in the University of Guelph’s fiscal year May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009. For ongoing projects, the report captures project instalments with start dates in the same period.

The report differs from reports produced in previous years for several reasons:

  • Reports in prior years summarized values for research revenues, or the value of funds received by the University. The 2008-09 figures represent award or instalment values, without reference to when funds were actually received.
  • Reports to be used in comparison to the 2008-09 Report, to track college/department trends for example, are available below for the 5 previous fiscal years. The “official” prior year reports should not be used for comparison due to the change in measure from revenue to award values.
  • The 2008-09 Report uses upgraded reporting software (Cognos 8).

 

The total value of research funds awarded for 2008-09 from external sponsors is close to $160M.
