Fall 2010 – Winter 2011
Term Certain Position in Geoscience
The Department of Geoscience at the University of Calgary is seeking an Instructor to teach 5 half courses during the 2010-2011 academic year, as follows:
- GLGY 311 – Minerals & Rocks (F10 and W11)
- GLGY 471 – Geology, Engineering & the Environment (F10)
- GLGY 475 – Geologic Record of Global Change (W11)
- GLGY 571 – Engineering Geology (W11)
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent, a strong record of teaching experience and possess a broad knowledge of geology, particularly in the areas of petrology and geochemistry. The Department of Geoscience is committed to student engagement and creating an innovative, student-centred learning environment. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Applications are currently being accepted for this position. A curriculum vitae, three letters of reference and a statement of teaching experience and philosophy are required. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Geoscience or a related field. Previous teaching experience is a strong asset. The application deadline is March 31, 2010. This appointment is effective September 1, 2010 - April 30, 2011.
