The Undergraduate English Program

The undergraduate English program at Guelph offers a wide array of literature courses covering thinkers and writers from around the world and from the Middle Ages to the present.  We also offer courses in the study of non-fiction texts and courses in creative writing.

All students specializing in English—whether as majors or minors in the Honours program, or as General program students pursuing an Area of Concentration—are offered a broad introduction to the discipline of literary studies and are given significant latitude in choosing courses that are of interest to them.

Members of the English faculty, several of whom have won awards for teaching, work at all levels of the curriculum, including first-year courses.

All of our faculty regularly publish scholarship and creative work that is honoured nationally and internationally for its quality.  For a complete list of our faculty, please click here.

Our students go on to a variety of careers—in teaching, law, publishing, journalism, public service, business, and many other fields.
