The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is the home base for a diverse group of faculty members who do research on a wide range of topics and teach courses in various disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs. While the Department places values on all substantive contributions to knowledge, it seeks to foster a supportive environment for research, teaching and professional practice. In accordance with the university’s Aims and Objectives, the Department is committed to liberal education, both disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and the creation of a collegial atmosphere. At the same time the Department provides encouragement for its members to strive for excellence in all their professional activities.
