TSS ValuesAt TSS, we are guided by the following values. They help us describe and acknowledge the approach we take to our work: enhancing the teaching culture and capability at the University of Guelph. We follow these values with an understanding of the historical and local context of the University as well as emerging trends and strategic directions in the realm of post-secondary education at large. COLLEGIAL SUPPORT AND SERVICETSS esteems cooperative and positive working relationships: with our clients, our support partners, and our staff; based on friendliness, approachability, helpfulness and respect for individuals and their collective needs, expertise and perspective.Within the limitations of our resources we strive to deliver support and services that are timely, proactive, flexible, and appropriate. CAPACITY BUILDINGTSS strives to provide educators with evidence-based teaching support strengthening and developing their existing knowledge, skills and values; fostering positive and sustainable learning experiences for students and educators, accommodating for the different contexts in which those individuals find themselves. TSS facilitates the learning of all its members by actively developing our knowledge, skills and values in supporting the enhancement of teaching at the University of Guelph with attention to systems thinking, professional mastery, critical reflection on our practices, shared vision, collaboration and lifelong learning. COMMUNITYAt TSS, we actively encourage a climate of collaboration: between the units within TSS, within the University of Guelph community as a whole, and with institutions and organizations outside the University, with the aim of strengthening our collective capacity to enhance teaching and learning. We are inclusive and take care to recognize the diverse needs and talents of those in the communities with which we work, actively sharing and encouraging the open exchange of knowledge, ideas, practices and resources. INNOVATIONAt TSS, we foster innovation by identifying areas within existing processes that could perform more efficiently, effectively, or completely, at the same time being open to new ideas and successful examples from within and without. Realizing that our endeavours must be evaluated in order to confirm the best methods, we maintain a culture in which experimentation is encouraged and understand that while not all initiatives are successful, the freedom to try new things is essential to an evolving workplace and a valued service. |
