Turfgrass Outreach Project Wins Provincial Funding

The Turfgrass Outreach Project has been awarded funding by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) to support its work with rural turfgrass managers. The project aims to provide turfgrass management strategies that work within the bounds of the Ontario Cosmetic Pesticide ban, in effect since April 22, 2009. The Turfgrass Outreach Project accesses expertise in turfgrass management from the University of Guelph's Turfgrass Institute, Department of Plant Agriculture, and School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, as well as OMAFRA. Project activities will include outreach workshops with sports field and school ground managers, an online Knowledge Centre, and access to turfgrass associations fostering stronger connections amongst communities.
