While our focus is to hire University of Guelph students for our part-time positions, all positions are open to non-students candidates as well. We are currently hiring for the following part-time positions for the Fall 2017 Semester:

Bartender (Experience & Daytime Availability an asset):
The Bar Staff is part of the Front of House team and as such are the first interaction point for our customers.  Bar Staff must be personable and able to converse with all members of the University Community including students, professors and industry professionals.  In order to maintain employment Bar staff must be Smart Serve Certified before they begin work and must adhere to all Provincial and University policies surrounding alcohol and alcohol service.  They must have excellent time management skills and a strong work ethic.  Customer service and care is our top priority and therefore it must be a strong skill set and focus of any potential candidate.  Bartending Staff are required to take orders, operate our POSi Touch system and ensure that guests are satisfied with their experience.

HOURS: 10 - 24 Per Week
WAGE: $9.90 Per Hour + Earned Gratuities & Food/Beverage Benefit

 

Server (Experience & Daytime Availability an asset):
Service staff are required to make sure customers feel welcome and greet them upon their arrival to the Brass Taps; introduce themselves and ensure that guests are aware of daily and weekly features.  Service staff must make sure that guests’ orders are promptly taken and entered into our POSi system.  In order to maintain employment, Service staff must be Smart Serve Certified before they begin work and must adhere to all Provincial and University policies surrounding alcohol and alcohol service.  Multitasking is a key skill to possess and customer care/service must be the top priority during service.

HOURS: 10 - 24 Per Week
WAGE: $9.90 Per Hour + Earned Gratuities & Food/Beverage Benefit

 

Kitchen Prep & Cooking Staff:
Our kitchen prep and cooking staff are responsible for menu knowledge and following consistency and quality guidelines as set out by the Pub and must at all times adhere to all Public Health and Safe Food Handling policies as well as University Policy.  Duties will include filling orders in a timely manner while following specification guides, to ensure consistent and quality dishes.  Part-time staff will also be responsible to assist the Full Time staff with filling special orders, maintaining a clean and orderly work station as well as a clean and organized Kitchen/Food Storage area.  Other duties pertaining to business operation may be assigned by Management or Lead Staff as the need arises.

HOURS: 6 - 24 Per Week
WAGE: $11.40 Per Hour + House Gratuity Bonus (Average of $0.95 - $1.80 Per Hour)

 

Bakery Assistant Staff:
Part-time bakery assistants will help the baker in preparing fresh from scratch baked goods for our retail and special event Campus Bakery Co. services in addition to regularly preparing doughs and recipes to specification, ensuring a clean and safe baking area, stocking ingredients, and decorating custom baked goods under the direction of the baker. This exciting opportunity will aim to develop sound traditional baking skills and explore the science and creativity promoted through our business.  Other duties pertaining to business operation may be assigned by Management or Lead Staff as the need arises.

HOURS: 6 - 24 Per Week
WAGE: $11.40 Per Hour + House Gratuity Bonus (Average of $0.95 - $1.80 Per Hour)

 

Licensed Security Staff:
Our Security Service on Campus is one with professional and respectful service.  The Licensed Guards will be scheduled as needed to work large-scale departmental events both in the University Centre (and Brass Taps) as well as at other sites on the University of Guelph Main Campus.  Guards are responsible to have completed their Ontario Security Testing and have either their temporary or license card on their person in order to work these events, as well as their Smart Serve Certification.  In house training can be provided (fee applies) for the Ontario Security Testing, provided that you have a valid First Aid (First Responder) Certification.  Guards are responsible for person-checks, bag-checks, ID-checks (if at a licensed function), as well as the overall safety and security of themselves, patrons and staff who are working or attending the event in question.  There may be other duties assigned by Management as needed.

HOURS: 6 - 24 Per Week
WAGE: $12.75 Per Hour + House Gratuity Bonus (Average of $0.95 - $1.80 Per Hour)

 

Student Quality Assurance Supervisor:
Our quality assurance supervisor is responsible for ensuring our guests receive the best possible product quality and service experience with every visit. The student supervisor will work with the assistant managers to supervise and monitor service activities in the pub, speak with guests and receive feedback on their experience, assist service staff with regular duties, execute promotions and special events, perform beverage inventory checks and assist with performing daily cashout procedures. The imcumbent will be an organized and professional team player focused on developing their management and communication skills. Experience in the hospitality industry is an asset.

HOURS: 24 Per Week
SALARY: $360 Per Week + Management Food/Beverage Benefit

 

Casual Building Support Staff (UC Services):
Building Support Staff are responsible for providing reservation and equipment setup services for our clients in all bookable University Centre meeting room locations. Casual support staff will work with the building coordinator and programming coordinator to arrange service and required support for reservations, complete daily task lists, report all matters relating to client services and room conditions to the building coordinators, setup equipment rentals, and monitor reservations during their shift. Morning and evening shifts available, candidates must be comfortable with lifting up to 40 lbs. and handling problem solving situations during high volume times.

HOURS: 10 - 16 Per Week
WAGE: $11.40 Per Hour + Food/Beverage Benefit
