Goals & Objectives

The goal of C-CIARN Agriculture is to build a network of representatives from agri-food, research, and policy communities to promote and facilitate research on climate impacts, vulnerabilities, risks, and adaptation for agriculture. In support of this goal, C-CIARN Agriculture is committed to:
  • Facilitate training in the field of climate impacts, vulnerabilities, risks, and adaptation for agriculture and its applications;
  • Synthesize and Disseminate research results;
  • Provide continuity in the effort to develop a shared understanding of present-day and future risks related to climate change and agriculture;
  • Identify research gaps and priorities for climate impacts, vulnerabilities, risks, and adaptation for agriculture; and
  • Make those research gaps and priorities known to funding agencies, research programs, and government ministries.

Organization

A National Advisory Committee made up of representatives from the agri-food industry, research, and policy communities provides long term guidance and direction to C-CIARN Agriculture. More immediate tasks are carried out by the Coordinator and Scientific Director who work with a Local Steering Committee. The office is housed in Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph.
