Goals and Objectives

The Canadian Agricultural Trade Policy and Competitiveness Research Network has the goal of improving the economic performance of the agri-food sector through research designed to enhance and better understand Canada's trade performance, competitiveness and policy options. In meeting this goal the Network will: 1) bring together a critical mass of researchers from academia and other organizations; 2) contribute to an informed debate on policy issues; and 3) increase the capacity to deliver agricultural policy research through research projects involving graduate students. The work of the CATPRN will be organized under eight subject headings:

    • Trade Negotiations
    • Market Opportunities
    • Competitiveness and the Structure of Production, Marketing and Trade
    • Domestic Policy
    • Consumer Safety and Quality
    • Plant and Animal Health
    • Environment and Trade
    • Developing Country Issues

The CATPRN is funded by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) but the views expressed in the publications by CATRPN members are those of the authors and should not be attributed to AAFC or to the CATPRN.
