As a young man Peter learned woodworking and the carriage buiding trade in Berlin under George Huck. After his marriage he moved to Bloomingdale where he continued his trade. The firm of Strub and Meisner built many of the carriages used by the older members of the community. The first ambulance of the town was their product.

Mary Schuller was a favorite and frequent choice as godmother. Even without checking the numerous Fischer and Strub baptisms, it's known that she was godmother for Pauline Strub/Lorentz, for two of Joanne Weber/Wilhelm's sons, Joseph and Anthony, and for Billy Waechter, son of the John F. Waechters. Mary often used to visit there at Formosa.
Mary married Anthony STRAUSS, son of Johann STRAUSS (1833 - 1918) and Catherine DEMERT (1839 - 1916). Anthony was born 6 Mar 1864 and died 2 Nov 1947 in St Agatha.
Monument for parents is also in St. Agatha Cemetery. A booklet of the Strauss family tree has been printed.
