139. John Anthony FISCHER (George B. , William W. , Philip ) was born 23 Aug 1908 in Kitchener. He died 18 Oct 1966 in Stratford.
John (Jack) Fischer enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1929, originally with the Royal Canadian Regiment, later with the Perth Regiment on the administrative staff. Served overseas in W.W.II, retired from the Army in Sept. 1949 in Stratford.
"Every inch a soldier, and well earned his long service and good conduct medal," says Emily, now that it's safe to say so. Earlier she and daughter reserved the right to hint that maybe the Army didn't look too sharply and see everything.
He became Presbyterian for some years, then reverted back at the end. He donated his body to science at the University of Western Ontario. Cremated. Probably a marker in the University section of Woodland Cemetery, London.

(Tillie) Married Jacob Fischer Sept. 8, 1915 at Formosa. They celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1965.
Tillie died May 11, 1969 after suffering a severe stroke in 1966 which paralyzed her left side. She was well cared for by Jacob and three daughters, a R.N. and another, R.N.A. OttiIia had taken care of her father in his last years. She played piano in the Waechter orchestra with father and brother Charles. Monument in Mildmay Cemetery.

Jacob farmed Lot 13 across the road from the Michael Fischer homestead. Jacob was Reeve of Carrick Twp. 1939-1949. Jacob J. was a son of John M. Fischer (1858-1919) and grandson of Michael Fischer ~ 1822, who emigrated to Pittsburgh when he was seventeen. Though not known to be related to our Fischers, it's possible that there might be a relationship in European generations, since Michael emigrated from Baden as our ancestor Philip did.

Frank Mullin of Chepstow, son of Thomas Mullin and Laura Dietrich. The Mullins were skilled carpenters. Thomas Mullin took the contract for building the new Chepstow church in 1903-4. His brother, John, was persuaded to take the contract for building the new church at Gagetown, Michigan. Some of the young Lang men worked on that structure.
Frank owned and operated the Chepstow grist mill as his father had previously. Afterwards Frank left the mill to his brother, Jim, to operate while he took over the implement dealership from the retiring Joseph Schutofaki. Son-in-law Joseph Benninger now operates the implement business. Frank and Agnes handle the roofing and cement sales business.
