CLAWS
is an organization which evolved from the former Centre for Soil and
Water Conservation which was established in 1986. From 1987 to 1996, CLAWS sponsored and
supported the Soil and Water Information Bureau, later known as the
Stewardship Information Bureau. Today, Professors, Research
Associates, Staff, and Grad Students are heavily involved in projects
related to the stewardship of land and water resources.
The focus of CLAWS
is to support research, extension, and teaching related to the
sustainable use of land and water resources. At present we have a
particular emphasis on:
- agricultural
practices
- nutrient
management
- water
quality
- the
conservation of natural areas by private landowners
- the
evolution of Canadian stewardship programs and policies
CLAWS
is located in the Richards
Building, at
the University of Guelph, Ontario, in the Land Resource Science
Department.
