meet other student leaders • Most students attending are 1st year • Students will be able to bring back valuable experience and encourage student leadership unto others. • At least 80% that went last year are still involved this year. 4.5.2 GRCGED (The Guelph Resource Centre for Gender Empowerment and Diversity) • Extensive resource library • Important part of the organization; well-used • Working on making the library better for traditionally marginalised groups • All students paying tuition are allowed to use it. • Current software has limitations to putting the library online; looking to buy expensive software to fill this purpose. • Allows them to see daily statistics. • PDRed CASU; misunderstanding, they suggested that GRC collaborate with the library, but they are working to fill the gap that they feel the library leaves; waiting on HC PDR app. • Asking for $200 4.5.3 United Way Tuition Lottery • United Way: strictly fundraising organization for the community • U of G campaign is key to UW success • Last year provided $370 000 • Auditor discovered there are gaps accumulating $800 000 • Programs provided available online • Tuition lottery: sell tickets, prize is one semester’s cost; any full- time student • Divides PDR among colleges • Asking for $360, challenge has been for colleges to put out $500, secondary prize will be added. • Money goes directly to the tuition lottery • Support other than monetary: ask for donations at already existing events. • Advertising: UW website, posters 4.5.4 Environmental Science Symposium • Asking for $500 • All day event, Rozanski • Environment in the media • Asking for $500 because of expensive Key note speaker, Justin Trudeau ( $10 000) • Journalists from global mail, CBC coming • Covering large student population, arts and science • Speaker and then lunch to encourage networking • Asking SLEF for $600, applying for TD scholarship, dean’s, • $5 admission fee for students; 280 students attended last year • PDR is going into pool of money unless CSAHS-SA specifies. • End note speaker David Suzuki’s daughter, trying to bargain her to $3000 • Cost has doubled since last year. • Bake sales average $100 revenue; salsa night $200 • Fall back plan - talking to Summerlee about reducing Rozanski price. 4.5.5 Vagina Monologues • Feb 8th, 9th, 10th as part of V-day festivities; event in conjunction with Valentine’s day, works to stop domestic violence. • Theme: women in conflict zones • 30 women performing the play • 55% of ppl involved are CSAHS-SA • Non-profit organization, lots of overhead costs • No revenue from ticket sales • PDRed $200 from CASU, waiting on Interhall ($500, received $300 last year), SVC, women’s safety • Asking for $500 because of 3rd additional night, war mem rental has gone up • Money going towards general pool unless specified • Became a club in August, passed deadline to receive 1st year club funds so all money must come from donations. • Quality of production going up;
