Interests: My research is directed at trying to understand the physiological mechanisms that plants use to survive under a variety of abiotic and biotic conditions and the genetic basis and evolution of these mechanisms. I am also interested the implications of plant physiological traits for community assembly and ecosystem functioning. Our overall goal is to provide a conceptual and mechanistic link between the evolutionary forces that shape the function of organisms and ecological processes at the community and ecosystem levels.
